Daily Assignments
I will post the daily assignments on the home page since some smart-phone platforms can't access the other pages on this website. :)
We ask our parents to be responsible for checking the student planner EACH DAY to see what is assigned, to check your child's work for accuracy, and to sign the parent-signature box in the planner.
Regular homework each week will include daily math and reading, and weekly word study and writing assignments.

Vocabulary Work
Vocabulary definitions and contextual sentences will be given in class. You will keep them in your binder. Your task at home is to review the words with mom and dad, brother or sister, dog or cat, stuffed animal or Lego person, or yourself in the mirror! Then you need to draw a picture that shows the meaning of the word. Have mom or dad sign the picture (which means that you explained your picture and how it shows the meaning of the word). That's all! Word Study
In addition to vocabulary development, we will learn the meaning of affixes and Greek and Latin roots as well as idiomatic phrases. We may use many different study techniques throughout the year, but here is an easy way to study them or complete your homework: 1. fold a piece of paper into four equal parts 2. label the parts as boxes 1, 2, 3, and 4 (use the back side for boxes 5-8, if necessary) 3. put name, date, and student number at the top of the page 4. put one word/phrase in each box; underline the word or put a box around it; write the definition of the word/phrase next to it 5. draw a picture in the box that illustrates the meaning of the word or phrase Using the words or phrases in sentences is NOT required. |
